A Makerspace is a collaborative workspace found in libraries, schools and other places. PLSJ's Makerspace has a variety of amazing equipment for people to create all sorts of interesting things. All of PLSJ's library branches have Makerspace equipment. The Schiappa Branch is our only library location to have a dedicated Makerspace room full of machines to try out.

Schiappa Branch Makerspace has a Laser Engraver, a Cricut Maker, a Cricut Heat Press, two different 3d Printers, a Video Conversion Station, a Photo to Digital Conversion Station, a Poster Printer and a Button Maker.

Main Library has a Poster Printer, a Button Maker, a Cricut Maker, and a Cricut Heat Press.

Toronto Library has a Cricut Maker and a Button Maker.

Adena, Brilliant, Dillonvale, and Tiltonsville libraries all have a Cricut Joy for patrons to reserve.

You sure can! You can reserve Makerspace equipment online. You can also call us to schedule an appointment.

Although our Makerspace equipment is free to use, there may be a cost for materials like, stencil sheets, 3d printer filament, paper etc. For a full list of Makerspace prices follow this link: Makerspace prices

Yes, there is. The minimum age is 16 years old with a parents’ signature.

Yes. There will always be a Makerspace staff member to assist you in completing your project. We want to make sure patrons receive all the help they need.

Maybe. It depends on whether the equipment you want to use is available and if we have a Makerspace staff member available to assist you.

Timesaving Tip! Excellent project planning can save significant time and make for a very enjoyable visit to the Makerspace.

The Laser Engraver takes 15 minutes or so depending on the size, complexity and number of items to be engraved.

The 3d Printer takes minutes to hours depending on the size, complexity and number of items to be 3d printed.

The Video Conversion Station takes as long as your VHS tape is. If your VHS tape is 1 hour long, it will take 1 hour. 2 hours will take 2 hours and so on.

The Photo to Digital Conversion Station takes 15 minutes to hours depending on the complexity and number of photos, magazines or books to be digitized.

The Cricut Machine takes 15 minutes or so depending on the size, complexity and number of items to be made.

The Heat Press takes 15 minutes or so depending on the size, complexity and number of items to be made.

The Poster Printer takes 5 minutes or so depending on the size, complexity and number of pages to be printed.

The Button Maker takes 5 minutes or so depending on the size, complexity and number of buttons to be made.
