Children's Book Week, April 30-May 6

Tuesday, May 01, 2018

Children’s Book Week is the annual celebration of children’s books and reading. Established in 1919, it is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. The program is sponsored by the Children’s Book Council (CBC) and administered by Every Child a Reader (ECAR).

In 1919, at the urging of Franklin K. Mathiews, Librarian of the Boy Scouts of America, Children’s Book Week (CBW) was founded to focus attention on the need for quality children’s books and the importance of childhood literacy.

Today, you can explore PLSJ's quality book selection, programming, and online databases for children by visiting the library in person and online.

Stop in one of PLSJ's branches to enter your child's name for the chance to win a prize drawing.
